"AOC Pushes 70-Percent Tax On Wealthy" Widely regarded as the most incompetent and uninformed person in the new Congress, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez floated the idea of taxing the rich at a rate of 70 percent to pay for her “Green New Deal” fantasy. She has been enjoying a rehabilitation tour on TV with the left’s Anderson Cooper tossing her softball questions in hopes that she will not appears as silly as she did during the campaign. The top 1 percent earners currently pay more than 70 percent of U.S. income taxes, despite the Congresswoman’s claims. Well really! Look at the two sentences. The first talks about a TAX RATE, the second a percentage of the total income taxes paid. Do you not see the discrepancy there? The U.S. Constitution says that a president can be impeached for “high crimes and misdemeanors,” but Democrat extremists seem to believe the standard should be “just because we don’t like you.” What makes this particularly comical is that even if they got enough angry Democrats together to hold a trial in the U.S. House, they could never get a conviction through a Senate vote. Crazed Democrats are wasting time, resources and American taxpayer dollars on personal vendettas rather than doing the people’s work of securing the southern border and passing an infrastructure package to fix the roads. |

Logical reasonable compromise. Trump stops all attempts to end Obamacare, Expands medicaid under it in all 50 states. Full amnesty for all DACA and reentry for any who have already been deported. Amnesty for all non felonious criminal undocumented presently in the US. In return he gets 5 billion for his wall . |

Congressional Democrats continue to backtrack on their past commitments to border security and point the finger at President Donald Trump for the government shutdown. But what the fake news media refuses to tell the American people is that the high-ranking Democrats have ushered in the worst gridlock in history. With the U.S. House of Representatives now in the hands of Speaker Nancy Pelosi and a Democratic majority, the far left has already gone to work trolling out ridiculous bills that have no chance of ever becoming law. Some even call for changing the U.S. Constitution. House Democrats have already stopped negotiating across the aisle just days into the new Congress. “My personal opinion, and I know that my district and my community feels this way as well, is that we as a party have compromised too much, and we’ve lost too much of who we’re supposed to be and who we are,” New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez told Anderson Cooper. What is particularly troubling about the Socialist upstart’s remarks is that Democrats have voted in lockstep against every significant piece of legislation and U.S. Supreme Court nomination put forth by the GOP and President Trump over the last two years. The left’s “resist” and “obstruct” agenda has stood in stark contrast to the Make America Great Again policies that have helped reduce unemployment to historic lows, ramped up the U.S. GDP beyond expectations and lowered taxes. With the partial government shutdown in place, Democrats are taking the opportunity to implement an unprecedented Washington, D.C., gridlock. The strategy is to pass the blame on to the president who is determined to solve the grotesque illegal immigration and drug trafficking crisis that has persisted at the U.S. southern border for decades. Knowing full well that the biased, left-leaning media will provide ample cover, Senate Democrats are openly calling for complete and total gridlock. Maryland Senators Chris Van Hollen and Ben Cardin have urged their fellow Democrats to block any and all bills until the president yields to open borders and resigns the country to an ongoing flow of illegal immigration and drugs pouring into the country. “This isn’t business as usual,” Sen. Carden tweeted. “This is a crisis, a fundamental failure to govern, and Americans are suffering for it. The Senate should not take up any bills unrelated to reopening the government until @SenateMajLdr lets us vote on exactly that. #Shutdown.” Sen, Van Hollen echoed his fellow Marylander’s sentiments saying, “we should not have business-as-usual in the Senate until we open the entire federal government.” Despite these and other Democrats high-handed words about border security and extending the already existing border wall, the complicit fake news media have sidestepped the fact that many congressional Democrats — including Chuck Schumer and Nancy Pelosi — voted for the existing barriers and touted improved border security in previous election campaigns. Everyday Americans will not be getting the facts from the fake news media anytime soon. So bent on notching their first win against the president in two years, Senate Democrats have already moved to block vital and bipartisan legislation completely unrelated to the border crisis. On the very first roll call of the new Senate, Democrats moved to deny a package of bills that had previously garnered widespread bipartisan support. The measures would have given additional support for America’s primary ally in the Middle East, Israel, as well as Jordon. The bills also leveled new sanctions against the brutal Syrian Assad regime. Although Senate Democrats are well aware that Israel has suffered repeated attacks by Hamas and Assad has used chemical weapons to slaughter women and children, they implemented a filibuster. Needing 60 votes to break the Democrat-led filibuster, only four Democrats broke ranks — Joe Manchin (West Virginia), Doug Jones (Alabama), Krysten Sinema (Arizona) and Bob Menendez (New Jersey). Republicans still were unable to break the filibuster with a 56-44 split. Senate Democrats can be proud they were successful in their first attempt at complete and utter gridlock. They notched a win that made Israel a little less safe, failed to help Jordon implement progressive changes that would improve the lives of women, and helped the murderous Assad regime continue its crimes against humanity. ~ Conservative Zone |

Most illegal immigration doesn't come through the Mexican border where Trump wants to build his wall.

"The crisis of illegal activity at our Southern Border is real and will not stop until we build a great Steel Barrier or Wall," he tweeted Dec. 22, the day the shutdown began. During fiscal 2018, which ran through the end of September, Customs and Border Protection (CBP) apprehended 396,579 undocumented immigrants at the southern border. That figure is lower than the 413,377 average yearly apprehensions during former President Barack Obama's time in office and only a fraction of the 1,643,679 apprehensions in 2000, when Bill Clinton was in office. |

Although President Donald Trump has frequently called the situation at the U.S.-Mexico border a "crisis," government data shows that arrests are down compared with the Obama administration as most illegal immigration occurs through overstaying temporary visas. As the government shutdown enters day 18 with no resolution in sight, Trump has repeatedly overstated the severity of illegal immigration at the border in order to convince Congress to approve more than $5 billion in funding for a border wall. |
Trump's claims about the southern border also fail to emphasize that the majority of illegal immigration occurs when immigrants overstay their temporary visas. During fiscal 2017, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) found that 701,900 immigrants with visas remained in the U.S. past their expected departure date, more than double the 303,916 immigrants apprehended at the border during that same time frame. A report by the Center for Migration Studies found this pattern to be true for every year since 2007. |

Sen. Cory Booker, who is reportedly seriously considering a presidential run, has now formally embraced the Green New Deal as part of his platform. Naturally, his move has garnered considerable praise as activists and mainstream media news outlets alike fawn over the senator’s new progressive stance. The Sunrise Movement and Justice Democrats alike are overjoyed that a senior Democrat would support their position, and are actively pushing for other Democrats in the Senate and House of Representatives to follow suit. However, those who have had a close look at the Green New Deal will be alarmed to see that there is a lot more to it than initially meets the eye. The aspects of the Green New Deal that are getting the most attention are the proposals to end fossil fuel emissions by year 2030, the idea of using federal funds to back green energy initiatives, and the proposal to use government funding to create eco-friendly jobs for anyone who wants one. The latter amounts to a federal Jobs guarantee that would provide workers across the United States with full-time employment that pays at least $15 an hour and includes cushy benefits such as medical insurance and paid holidays. If this is all you know about the plan, it might sound harmless. However, the Green New Deal is in fact a four-part program, and much of it has nothing to do with combating the effects of “man-made” climate change. It includes calls for the government to provide free college, Medicare and affordable housing for all — all with no account of how much this will all cost, or if it is even really worth the taxpayer money. The Green New Deal encourages the creation of non-profit banks and utilities while imposing strict regulations on rich corporations. The last part of the plan would abolish the Electoral College set down by the Founding Fathers in the Constitution. It also calls for the creation of a Corporation of Economic Democracy that would promote “cooperative development” and encourage government agencies, private associations and businesses to participate in “democratic reforms”. Really, this is less of a tree hugging fantasy and more of a Trojan horse for every hard-left policy that has destroyed republics in the past. A close look reveals the Green New Deal is a plan for massive government involvement in the private sector as well as the lives of all ordinary Americans. What is more, there is no mention of who will pay for all the free stuff for everyone. The only way to pay for these massive programs would be to substantially raise taxes — and not just on the rich. The Green New Deal is one that ordinary Americans will likely be hearing a lot about for the foreseeable future. Sen. Bernie Sanders has already embraced it along with Sen. Booker. Sen. Jeff Merkley, another Democrat who is considering a presidential run, has said he wants to create his own Green New Deal proposal should be actually run for the presidency. Sen. Kamala Harris has expressed interest in the Green New Deal, and said via a spokesperson that she supports its goals. Should any one of these left-leaning individuals win the presidency in 2020 or afterwards, the nation could face drastic changes as government involvement in the day to day lives of every single person drastically increases in the name of “saving the planet” and “creating a secure, sustainable future.” |

On Armed cops with poor training or poor rules on firearm usage This relates to a specific incident, but also to (in my mind) the excessive use of firearms by cops and the sheer number of shots fired in so many cases. |
