You are feeling very sleepy!

Favourite music, including groups and solo artists.

Since my collecting days go back rather a long way, you may not have heard of some of these, but groups such as Radiohead should be known to you. I have also in some cases gone back to the sources the groups used too. These pages will take some time to load by the way, so be patient. Oh yes, no order at all there. I have also included a section on Influential artists and on U.S. music.

The music pages do not contain music files, but do have links to the artist's own site or one devoted to them. There are also several individial artist pages.

The lower panels on this page show special interest items, with a link to a lot of music dealers at the bottom. Any "newsgroup" links are to UK Freeserve unless stated.

Wishing you a very happy Christmas and a prosperous New Year.

Film index and other data on the separate site pages. The Rios Attic site has a fully comprehensive review section on the movies in chronological order.

River Jude Phoenix. River only lived for 23 years, but has left a lasting memory on film and in so far unpublished music. Why not release it? A few tracks were released on benefit albums. Does ANY video or film exist of his band Aleka's Attic?

Books on River see the page devoted to him and linked web sites.Click on pic to access the onsite page. OCTOBER 31 1993 Los Angeles. River Phoenix Requiescat In Pace.

There were two Aleka's Attic tracks on the Internet. The link on my Phoenix page seems to have closed. More tracks were to follow according to the site linked from there. Any info is welcome. There are now excerpts at the Rio's Attic website. Quality seems a bit "iffy" though!

Second site now here.

A local band here, (who are still based in Middleton), one of several on the site pages. "Why Call It Anything" is now in the shops.

Tony Fletcher CD sleeve.

The Chameleons date from 1981 in Middleton.

They had also a spinoff band the Reegs, but have reformed! Cds available too. They have just released an acoustic CD. 2001 has now seen a new album! (See left)

The Fan and The Bellows. I can sell you a copy of this album. Only a few available though. Track list on the Chameleons page. Click on image to access the on site page.

If the section you are visiting has not been updated, please e.mail. I have been distracted though.

Re Halle website. Coincidentally this site is hosted with a company run by a colleague! The site has been rebuilt and altered considerably, but is now back on line.

Apologies for several individual personal weblinks which may fall foul of Cyber Patrol or similar web filter programs. I cannot vet all these sites at present, but will attempt to get them cleared.

To Stand or Sit Down. (Apologies to James)

Some bright spark wrote to UK teletext saying they dislike the idea of Arena gigs where most of the audience is seated. The question was "what do you do?" Well Music is sound! You LISTEN to it! There is NO need to be jumping around (moshing or whatever) or "crowd surfing" to enjoy good music, though it does have its place. There has always been a tendency for fans to react during performances (screaming, blowing whistles etc) so that in some cases how well or badly the music sounded was irrelevant (or near inaudible) and jumping on seats happened too. To suggest though that you can't enjoy music seated is utterly silly! I guess it reflects the current UK obsession with "Dance" tracks and (somewhat feeble in some cases) "garage" and "remix" ones. Why Radio 1 allocates so much time to it is a mystery to many UK listeners!

The New Grove Dictionary of Music. Published Jan. 8th. 2001

This revered publication is now available both in hard copy (paper) form AND on the Internet. The latter allows regular updates and it has full search facilities. It is also intended to include a full range of audio samples and site links too.

The Website Was offering a "free trial". Take a look if you can. Hip Hop, Kraftwerke and Massive Attack are all there, as is Oasis.

Musical Sites Trading. (see button panel above)

This refers to dealers and suppliers of recorded music, including memorabilia. It does not include performers, unless they act as their own distributors.

Musical Comments. see new link.

This has a selection of comments from BBC Ceefax and Channel 4 teletext pages as well as my own observations. With the advent of digital TV these text pages are lost on television.
