It must be emphasised in this contest that regular checking of investments and potential investments is essential. It is all to easy to miss a sudden major gain when profits should be taken. One contestant was 30% ahead, but only for one day! Individual contestants can have site access and can do their own research, but the Staff have to do the actual trading.

How to trade profitably - Some hints. It is possible to trade a stock -(buy and sell it as it hopefully makes gains.) It is also possible to react to a sudden unexplained downturn in a stock by taking a speculative buy. In the contest the spread in price can be a major factor - Buying a stock can give a big instant loss on the spread! This has to be made up before you can sell at profit! "Penny shares" allow you to have thousands of shares, but this can be risky on big spreads. However such stocks can (and do) often make substantial moves on relatively little trading. They MUST though be watched carefully! Note I am NOT indicating which shares we are holding, for obvious reasons! I also hold stock in some of the companies listed below.

Note with regard to ADVFN. The site is now offering a free access "streaming" prices service. There is, however a restriction on the number of users at any one time, which may result in your being unable to log onto the site. The service is best applicable to the more highly traded stocks, since lesser ones do not really warrant the same system (lower number of trades).

Sunday Jan 18th. 09 BBC News carried a long story re the acceptance in Scotland of the trials for the Stroke therapy the company is developing. This will begin "next year", in Glasgow, initially as safety trials. Potentially the idea of Stem Cell Therapy could be a major medical revolution! 19th. Shares show 170% gain on the news! From 3p to 8p! It is possible that the FDA in USA may also allow USA trials too now that the Gov't has changed. 22nd. US giving Go-ahead for spinal injuries treatment trials by Geron suggests that USA trials for Reneuron may also now get the green light. Very high volumes today siggest that there could be more mileage in this stratospheric climb (Now 14.5p!)
