Chris attended the June 29th Stone Roses concert in Heaton Park with 4 other lads. At some time during it he lost his mobile phone (a Sony Ericsson). He didn't find out until the concert was over and for some reason decided he had to look for it and lost contact with the 4 others. I think the phone must have had something important on it. He gave up looking however and was back in Manchester by about 1.30 am where he recovered and apparently put on a pair of new shoes he had hidden in a car park. He was seen on CCTV walking from there into the city, via Dantzig St, Withy Grove, Exchange Square, Cateaton St, Deansgate and Parsonage, onto a balcony overlooking the Irwell, from which he never returned. The Sim Card in the phone was used in Edinburgh early the following week, so someone has found the phone. I wish that person would hand it in. I am considering offering a reward for the phone and sim card - IF they can be positively identified. Chris was found dead in the canal at Salford Quays near Media City on July 9th. RIP Chris. |

Chris has been pictured on Bass and guitar and was a big music fan. The Stone Roses were possibly his favourite band - it's so sad that he lost his life within hours of the end of the concert. Someone at Heaton Park that weekend who lives in Edinburgh found the phone he was "desperate" to find. I wish that person would hand it in - It could possibly help explain the sad events of that night if the data on it remains. |

The UK 12" had a Print included in some cases. I have fully labelled copies complete with prints (see link below). One Love was the track which someone suggested should be made #1 in memory of Chris - The family requested not to let people push for that. |

Guernica, one of the reverse play tracks seems to work very well indeed to my mind. Whether this was a matter of chance or not, I'm unsure, but it's worth tracking down. |

9th July 2012 Earlier this afternoon, a statement was also posted on the Chris Brahney Facebook page, which reads as follows: "It is with great sadness that on behalf of the Brahney family I am writing to you all. The police will be issuing a formal statement soon regarding the body that was found in the canal this morning. At this time we believe that it is Chris, however formal identification has still to take place." They continued: "The family would like to thank everyone for all the kind words, thoughts and prayers that you have sent our way. Thank you for all the support, it has given them immense strength and courage. Please respect the familys wishes and ensure that they are left alone during this difficult time." An extensive search has taken place throughout last week and this weekend to find Brahney, with The StoneRoses themselves even appealing for people to come forward with information. A message posted on the band's website said: "We'd like to extend our sincerest condolences to Christopher's family and friends. Our thoughts are with them at this incredibly sad time. Ian, John, Mani and Reni." Tributes to Brahney from the music world have been plentiful, with Primal Scream, who supported The Stone Roses that night, among those to offer one. They wrote: "RIP Chris Brahney". The Courteeners frontman Liam Fray joined them in paying tribute, he wrote: "So sad about Chris Brahney. The Courteeners send their love to his family and all of his friends." He was joined in offering condolences by The View, who dedicated their show in Manchester last night to Brahney, they wrote: "The View dedicate their Manchester gig to 22 yr old Chris Brahney who was found dead in a Mcr canal 2day. RIP." Inspiral Carpets man Clint Boon wrote: "Police have just confirmed that the body found in Salford Quays earlier today was that of Chris Brahney. So sad for him and his family." Reverend And The Makers also posted a message, writing: "R8 upset me about Chris Brahney. So sad innit. RIP pal." The Charlatans' Tim Burgess felt the same, simply writing: "So sad about Chris Brahney". |
