Silvertone strikes again?

The Remix Album

Remixed versions of Roses tracks already existed. Some of these are pretty scarce, at least on official media. The Bottom Won "Fools Gold" for instance on a Gold CD. This does not appear on the album, nor does the Top Won mix.

Some other remix issues (limited and otherwise)

To the right is the 1995 sleeve with two versions as on the original and two new remixes. "Tall Paul" at 7.21 and "Cricklewood Ballroom" at 4.16.

The sleeve above is the original version ORECD13. It also features "What the World is Waiting for" (original A side) and the 4.15 version of the title track.

Shoot You Down

A sitar like electronic backwash and slightly augmented percussion here. Subtle instrumental additions too. There is more weight as the track proceeds, but it remains quite recognisably a Stone Roses track. Nice fade loop "I like to do it." The reprise is a little more complex. Fades out.

Fools Gold

Fools Gold

This must be a fairly early "Gerald" mix. A stronger percussion element here, with Bass well forward too. The vocal line is again undisturbed, but a mysterious female voice enters. "Fool" is looped several times and at the close intertwines with the female vocal before the track simply stops. Steady beat almost throughout with less guitar overall, or is that my imagination? The 9.53 version has a long guitar break for sure! (see ORECD13)

I Am The Resurrection

Seems to be the more usual type of remix

Made of Stone

Waterfall

Waterfall

She Bangs the Drums

One Love

Elizabeth My Dear

Totally new instrumental here, with vocals fragmented into a series of samples. These are multi layered and processed very extensively over a much augmented but not excessive instrumental track. Vocal echoes close. "Curtains for you Elizabeth My Dear"

I Wanna Be Adored

Elephant Stone

Overall comment.
