Logically I should be cutting out bands from the other two pages as they become established (or fail) but for now here's a further page. Just moved Muse for that reason. Coldplay are next to go.
I mention elsewhere about choosing band names. There is a band called "Ricky", apparently quite good, but do they really want to be found with Ricky Martin by search engines? The Soft Parade however used the title of a Doors album (as second choice actually). |

To start with, Three (+1) from Ryan. He's into Punk in a big way, so he is! |

Hehe Already got 'em on Shifty Disco 9802. That was in 1998. Quite a lot of technique even then. What were they? 16 perhaps? |

The Shifty Disco CD. |
Two tracks here as is usual. |

With a name like this they should be a Rock band! (Look it up in Geology). A Flash site too. |

The Soft Parade (Feltro Media) From Brighton UK. They have a website too! Are they now The Electric Soft Parade? |
|
Debut single is a 9 min epic, "Silent to the Dark". Brothers Tom (16) and Alex (18) White make up this band. Tom sings, but both are multi instrumentalists. They have already an unreleased album in demo form under the old name. |
|
Just got the single! Very impressed! In "Silent To The Dark" they make a lot of use of effects, Blur like at times, and episodic, with swirling "panned" sounds, remix style and a lot more slow tempo too as a middle section. Warning though, this actually has a huge dynamic range. The AA side, " Something's Got To Give" is more conventional; Tom sounds really Laid back vocally! Shades of a Gallagher, but not as nasally irritating! Features "Scratch" type and Guitar effects too, with a very unexpected close! |

Ricky |
Teen guitar band apparently. Single due soon. They have put out a few ltd. ones apparently? Seventies feel. |

Alfie |
Appear to have a singer with Ian Brown tendencies if today's Lamaq live is anything to go by! (Oxford University) The first releases were on Limited vinyl, but have now appeared on CD. |

From Belgium! Theres a change. Not a Soul band either (Radio 1 Feb 19th) |

The band is called JOBE. They have a neat website online already (good planning that is!). There was a Radio Lancs appearance too, which I managed to miss. Still there is an MP3 available of part of it (another one) see link below. The Norden Valley pic right is the band. (shades of Four Miles Out There!) See here too. There are now Seven of them. Two can play strings and keyboards. The band will have greater depth as a result. A USA tour is planned too! |

Review shortly. |

There is a connection with Tim Buckley. His "Starsailor" album is phenomenal and no one can sing like Tim! Jeff came pretty close though! The band are being described as "depressing" - means too slow to dance I guess. SO WHAT! Check MP3.com for a remix btw. This may have been closed. |

Australian band using samples. They now have a website, (the name really confuses the search engines!). A 17 yo guy, Chris Parker has a site set up, see the link. There is a big back catalog list. The pic left is one I borrowed, er sorta (sampled?) sorry! The album is getting a lot of positive comment. |
|
|
They have featured in the NME already, not sure if that's good or not these days!. I'm wondering how many of my tracks have been on their samples list! UK teletext comment is mixed, with some claiming that the "cut and paste" approach they use doesn't have enough thought put into it! |

Could they be described as a "supergroup"? That term was used in the '60s when members of several bands recorded together. Blind Faith were an example. The difference now being the animated cartoon element. I see Jamie Hewlett is involved too. He worked with the Senseless Things on sleeves. |
||
|
You could argue that Gorillaz is a manufactured band in a sense, but that is not the case (IMHO) since the members got the idea and worked it out "Supergroup" fashion. Damon has always displayed a wide musical experience (too wide it seems for some listeners) and this is no exception. |

Russian? band |
They keep advertising on a lot of News groups. |
