There are lots of good things on the internet, but also, sadly many things which can be put to bad use. One of these is the online blog with chatbox, both of which have examples owned by that web behemoth GOOGLE. They claim to offer "free speech". This is almost entirely under ANONYMOUS logins which appear to be beyond redress. They organise attacks on other web users, usually with no foundation other than an often misguided "opinion", a bias, or simply nothing more than bullying, pure and simple.

This is a reply I posted in response to an anonymous post in a blog. Below it is yet another anonymous post in response to that and the earlier posting. It appears in full below this panel, complete with the original spelling.

"Free speech" does NOT include libel or slander, both of which are committed in the "chatterbox" and the blog comments on a daily basis. There are legal precedents in the USA of damages being awarded in such cases. That applies to the person stating the offending remarks and to those who allow it on a web page. Since blog comments are "moderated", that legal action would fall on the moderator who allowed the post.

The comment above refers also the the first paragraph below. "opinions" can be viewed as libel or slander if they contain untruths. In the case of slander, "chat boxes" etc can be viewed as oral or spoken word, as opposed to libel which is the written word. Both apply if only a single person has seen the offensive material. This has been applied in the USA as well as Europe. The USA first amendment does not apply.

As to the second paragraph below, since it is "anonymous" I cannot respond to that person and have no idea what they are referring to. It sounds very confused , to put it mildly.

Finally the reference to comments. I comment about the general postings in the blog - Most of the time they are about or attacking broadcasters, including myself. They often include speculation over what they imagine goes on off camera. On occasion they DO comment on very bad (sometimes drunken) activity by broadcasters. That is fair, but to encourage some of such activity by trolling is not. That is going on, because chatterbox logs reveal it to be so. If comments have been made against me, or anything topical then I may make a comment in my chat. If they then choose to respond in the chatterbox it proves they are lurking in my channels waiting to do just that. There is NOTHING to stop them commenting in my chat. If such comments are civil they will be able to chat - If not - well they will be timed out.

(5) "Near naked teenaged boys". A deliberately emotive choice of phrase. The members on the site already had their own websites with the same photos. Others also appear on YouTube (where there is no way of sharing routine, diet and other information.) There was no suggestion that they wore "speedos", though several did on other sites - similar to, for instance, Tom Daley since about 14 years of age.

This is one of the photos from the website. It is at least 14 years old and was taken from the internet. The file name suggests he was 14 at the time. What is also obvious from the fake tan is that it was taken in or at an actual bodybuilding contest. That should also be obvious from his pose. There is nothing suggestive about the pose - all it does is show the results of his training in the sport. I included the image as a role model for others of similar age, nothing more!
